Welcome!
The Huntsville Advanced Defense Technology Cluster Initiative (HADTCI) is hosting a Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Summit designed to facilitate deliberate establishment of partnerships between small businesses in North Alabama and universities within the larger region to compete for STTR funding. The HADTCI hopes this event will then serve as a model that can be repeated within the region to facilitate collaboration for other similar Small Business Federal Funding Opportunities. Twenty-seven research universities and engineering schools located within approximately two hundred miles of Huntsville will be invited to the event to be held 11-12 August, 2011. The date was selected to align with the pre-solicitation period of the next Department of Defense STTR solicitation. Universities and small businesses will be asked to review the available STTR topics to identify the ones of specific interest. Small businesses around North Alabama who wish to participate in the STTR Summit are encouraged to register early and prepare short presentations identifying the STTR topics of interest and the subset of their capabilities they intend to apply toward competing for and executing efforts under those topics. During the summit, some organizations will deliver those presentations. However, all presentations will be made available to all participating organizations.
The Huntsville Advanced Defense Technology Cluster Initiative is a partnership of local universities, Federal organizations, business incubators, and business service providers led by the Von Braun Center for Science and Innovation (VCSI), a not-for-profit organization, which seeks to facilitate collaboration among small businesses in North Alabama and provide resources for identifying and meeting the technology needs of government entities, prime contractors, and commercial customers. The HADTCI coordinates training workshops, networking events, and ideation sessions which benefit small businesses, assisting them in improving the quality of their services and connecting them with customers.
